This Christmas, Lady Cove is keeping it close to home. Comfort and Joy celebrates the songs and stories that make Christmas in Newfoundland and Labrador what it is, music that feels like family, community, joy, and belonging!

Every piece in this concert comes from here, arranged just for Lady Cove by our incredible collaborative pianist and resident composer, Leslee Heys.

You’ll hear familiar tunes and a few surprises, all wrapped in the sound of women’s voices celebrating the place we call home.

We’re sharing the stage with the iconic duo – Jim Payne and Fergus O’Byrne, two artists who’ve helped shape the sound of Newfoundland music for decades. Together, we’ll bring a mix of folk and choral traditions.

This concert also launches Little Heart’s Ease, a new way to welcome young singers into what we do. During the first half of the show, Juno-nominated choral educator Robert Colburne will teach kids (ages 6–13) choruses of two Christmas songs , and then after the intermission they’ll join Lady Cove and Jim and Fergus on stage to perform!

Mark your calendar for March 8, 2025, and join us for an unforgettable celebration of International Women’s Day under the theme, “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” The concert unites a vibrant collection of performers whose artistry honours the diversity and strength of women worldwide. Immerse yourself in the harmonies of Lady Cove Choir and the Holy Heart of Mary Alumnae Choir, reflect on the insights of Haudenosaunee speaker Brooke Temple as she addresses the vital matter of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, let youth soloist Anabelle Edmunds-Ramsay lift your spirits, and be inspired by an exciting new collaboration between the Bollywood Jig Professional Dance Troupe, and Lady Cove.

Lady Cove will also be premiering a brand new stunning arrangement of Dolores Hynes’s Woman of the Island by our very own Leslee Heys!

Inspired by Sara Bareilles’ kaleidoscope metaphor, this event showcases how each unique voice—like a fragment of stained glass—shimmers more brilliantly when combined with others. The evening begins in the majestic sanctuary of St. Mary’s Church, where Lady Cove, accompanied by the Atlantic String Quartet, will enchant you with Dan Forrest’s acclaimed classical compositions. Let the soaring voices of our choir transport you into the heart of the holiday spirit.

After a quick intermission, venture downstairs to Canon Hall for “Lady Cove Rocks,” our dynamic showcase featuring the incredible Halliday Band. Get ready to sing along to your favorite holiday tunes and rock classics, performed with the infectious energy that only Lady Cove and the Hallidays can deliver.

Heart’s Delight: A Celebration of Treble Voices Discover the magic of treble choral music at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on October 27, 2024, at 4:00pm. Join Lady Cove and nearly 300 singers from six choirs across Newfoundland and Labrador for an extraordinary FREE concert.

“Heart’s Delight” is more than just a performance—it’s a vibrant festival culminating in a grand celebration of treble voices. Experience the unique blend of voices from Lady Cove, Bella Nova, Cantus Silva, Aurora Women’s Choir, Celeste, and the Holy Heart Trebles, coming together in unity and harmony.

Throughout the weekend, these talented choirs have participated in workshops, rehearsals, and surprise performances, building towards this finale event. Join us as we fill the Basilica with the joyous sounds of treble choral music, celebrating our province’s rich musical heritage and the collaborative spirit of our community.
